The Caterpillar

The boys school devoted a few weeks to learning about the life cycle of a they start as an egg, then a caterpillar, then a chrysilas...then into a beautiful butterfly! What a learning experience this was for them. They will proudly tell you each stage and about what happens. They watched the caterpillar turn into a butterfly and even got to hold the butterflies, while in a tent on the play yard. Wade was grief stricken when it was time to let the butterflies 'fly away'...poor guy. So, we now just have to hunt for caterpillars on a daily basis upon stepping foot on the front porch, as we found one lone little caterpillar and spent nearly an hour following it across the concrete.
Having children really opens your eyes to the beauty of life...They can each recite each and every word to the popular book The Hungry Caterpillar...amazing how much like a sponge they are at this age!!
